MEETING CALENDARS

The regular meeting of the VILLAGE BOARD is the third Tuesday each month at 6pm, except the following meetings are held the second Tuesday: the February meeting is moved to the second Tuesday if there is a February primary election since the statutory election date is the third Tuesday; and the April meeting is moved to the second Tuesday since the statutory date for the organizational meeting is the third Tuesday.

The regular meeting of the PLAN COMMISSION is the first Wednesday each month at 6pm, except the Commission does not meet in January and July except by special meeting due to conflicts with the New Year and Fourth of July holidays.

The meetings of the STANDING COMMITTEES are set by each committee at the first meeting of the new term and are subject to change based on workload and committee member availability.  There are frequent changes to standing committee meeting dates.

The meetings of the BOARD OF REVIEW, INSURANCE COMMITTEE, JOINT REVIEW BOARD, and ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS are scheduled as needed.

Notice to Control Noxious Weeds 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to each person who owns, occupies, or controls lands in the Village of Cleveland, Wisconsin, to destroy all Noxious Weeds on such properties before the plants bloom. The Noxious Weeds are: Canada Thistle, Leafy Spurge, Field Bindweed (Creeping Jenny), and any other such weeds as the Village Board or the county board by ordinance or resolution declares to be noxious within its respective boundaries.

In addition to the above Noxious Weeds, all plants out of place and considered detrimental to the county must be controlled on all lands.

Weeds shall be controlled at such times and in such manner as will effectively prevent such plants from maturing to the bloom stage.  This is set forth in the Wisconsin State Statute 66.0407.

ATV / UTV Information

ATV/UTV Ordinance: 2024-O-05

ATV/UTV RULES:

  • You must wear a helmet if you are under 18 years of age.
  • If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you must possess an ATV safety certificate.
  • Your vehicle must be registered with the State of Wisconsin.
  • You must yield the right of way to all vehicle traffic and pedestrians.
  • The noise level must be 96 db or less.
  • Machines operating on pavement can be dangerous. Be cautious!
  • You MUST use hand signals or turn signals when turning or stopping on any Village Street.
  • Railroad Right of Ways are Not Allowed.
  • MUST Remain in Parking Areas within the Parks

ATV/UTV LAWS REMINDER:

You are required to know all laws pertaining to the operation of these machines in the Village of Cleveland.

  • Travel Upon Village Streets. Operation of ATV/UTVs within the Village limits shall be strictly limited to traveling along the extreme right side of Village streets designated for that purpose.
  • Headlight. Every ATV/UTV operating within the Village, upon any public street, must always display a lighted headlight and taillight, day or night. The headlights must be a white or clear light and must be capable of illuminating the road ahead during hours of darkness and be observed at a distance of 200 feet. Headlights must be properly adjusted so as not to interfere with the operation of other vehicles on the roadway.
  • High Performance. ATV/UTV classified as high performance or designed for racing will not be allowed on Village streets.
  • Operation on Sidewalks Prohibited. ATV/UTV are not permitted on any sidewalk, pedestrian way, or upon the terrace area between the sidewalk and curb of any street in the Village, except for snow removal.
  • Restriction on Equipment. No ATV/UTV may be operated on any street within the Village limits unless it conforms to all noise, registration, and other equipment requirements. No person who is not lawfully licensed, under current driver’s license suspension, revocation or cancellation for any reason, may operate an ATV/UTV upon Village streets.
  • Routes Designated. Except as provided in Wis. Statutes or herein stated, no person shall operate any vehicle upon any public right-of-way, in any public park or cemetery or on any other public or private property in the Village except upon routes designated by the Village Board as ATV/UTV routes.
  • Signs and Markers to be Observed. No person shall fail to obey any route sign, marker or speed limit, or traffic sign.
  • Slow Moving Vehicle. Any ATV/UTV which is not able to attain a speed of 25 MPH must display a Slow-Moving Vehicle sign as stated in Wis. Statutes.
  • Speed. No person shall operate an ATV/UTV within the Village of Cleveland or on any public street/highway or other public way designated in the Village of Cleveland Municipal Code at a speed in excess of any posted limit.
  • Taillights. Shall be red in color and be observable to a distance of 500 feet at night.
  • Unattended Vehicles. No person shall leave any ATV/UTV unattended on any public highway or public property while the motor is running or with the starting key left in the ignition.

The Village of Cleveland Police Department shall have the power to declare when ATV/UTV routes are either open or closed. Such openings and closures may be posted on the Village website or the Police Department Facebook page.
